My name is Strudel and I am the biggest sweetheart you are likely to meet! I love to be pet all over, ESPECIALLY my belly, and I love to be brushed. I am a pretty big couch potato and love to be snuggled up under the blankets, safe and warm. The 5-10 minutes a day I like to be active, you can entice me with a wand toy. Eventually, I will just sit on it and watch you try to wiggle it out from under me. It’s pretty funny! Even though I have been nothing but calm and chill with my current foster, I can get stressed pretty easily and will need you to take time with me to make sure I feel comfortable. I would do best with a quiet and calm household. No small children or other animals for me. I want your love all to myself!

Foster Notes: Strudel has made good strides now that he is the only pet in his household. He had made good friends with the older child in a recent foster home, and now enjoys being in a quiet, adult only foster home as well. He should start out in a safe self-contained room where there are a few hiding spots and his adopters can spend time with him visiting and hanging out. Allowing him access to the full house too soon will be stressful for him and will only cause him to hide. So a week or more in his safe room is advised while he settles in. He needs a home that is quiet and has minimal changes going on.

Special Needs: Strudel has stress related urinary issues and is on a Veterinarian prescribed and purchased food (Hills Urinary Care c/d Multicare Stress ) and likely will be for the rest of his life. He is currently on a daily prescribed low dose of Gabapentin to reduce his anxiety. His adopter will need to follow the guidance and support of their Veterinarian before making any changes to his diet & medication regime.

ADOPTION FEE: The Special Needs adoption fee is $165.00 (which includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner). There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
