Tybee is one big hunk of love!
This sweet, affectionate, wonderful boy is looking for a quiet, calm, home with predictable routines that he can settle into and make his own. He is looking for an adoption home where there are no dogs, but perhaps just one other calm, passive, friendly older cat like himself would be okay. He gets along with the multiple feline foster housemates and is respectful around them, but he would likely prefer to have more of his people to himself. He is looking for an adopter who has some experience and understanding of cats.
• He loves a regular routine. He's is eager for belly rubs
• He is a polite fellow who is not demanding, I have not yet heard him meow, even at mealtimes unlike his housemates
• He prefers to spend his time sitting on someone's lap, for extended periods of time if he gets the chance.
• He loves a chin scratch, low belly rub, any affection, all affection
• When left alone, he can be found on various surfaces around the house, anything really, if you put it down he may make a bed of it. He is curious about open cupboards and will check everything out
• In a home with no pets, he will likely sleep with you/on you, currently he does not sleep in his foster parent's bed, but he would like to if it were not so crowded with other cats!
• In the past he liked to chew on plastic, bags, wrappers, cellophane...he has not had a chance to demonstrate this penchant in his foster home, but his adoptive home must be careful to keep these items out of his reach.
Tybee loves to watch the squirrels, chipmunks and birds out the window or on the catio in fair weather.
About Me:
Special Needs: Tybee had struvite crystals in his urine in 2022 and bladder stones (struvite) in 2024. He had a surgical procedure, cystotomy, in 2024 to remove the bladder stones. His recent urinalysis showed no crystals present, however he will need to remain on a Veterinary prescribed and sourced diet that has an SO index for life. He is currently enjoying Hill's Prescription Diet Urinary Care c/d with Ocean Fish canned food and Royal Canin Multi Funcion Urinary SO Hydrolyzed Protein dry food.
Although he is a big guy in need of weight loss, in his foster home he does not over-eat. He is on a calorie restricted diet of 210 kcal per day, which he does not mind nor beg for food. He drinks water well, which also helps with keeping his urinary tract healthy.
Tybee does experience upper GI issues, often vomiting undigested food right after eating or at times furballs.
He enjoys being combed and if this is done regularly it does help to reduce the hairball. If he is feeling rushed (by other cats hovering,) or if he drinks too much right before or after eating he tends to vomit more often. He is a picky eater, and tends to graze rather than gulp in his foster home, so small portions of his wet food are given at a time throughout the day.
He has free access to his portioned dry food in a personal microchip feeder, and nibbles at his dry food. We are hoping that the Urinary SO Hydrolysed prescription dry food to see if this improves his gastro issues.

The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
