SWEET PRINCESS COMING THROUGH! I’ve been described as a “beautiful cloud,” which I can’t deny. What can I say: I was born very fluffy and extra soft! My favorite things are stealing your bed, curling up on the couch with you, getting chin scritches and playing with crinkle balls. Who knew these were so fun!?! I only have five teeth left, meaning my kisses and nibbles are extra gentle. I will also lick your hand once in a while to show you how much I appreciate your love and care. I also don’t meow very much, so if you’re looking for a quiet cat, I’m your girl! I would love to find a peaceful home to spend my glorious golden years in, as unfamiliar or unexpected sounds sometimes startle me. And despite my age, I’ll love you as much as any kitten. I would love to be part of your family and hope to steal your heart very soon (as well as your bed).

About Me:

Swan Foster Notes: Swan is a very sweet girl who would enjoy a quiet life. She is not people shy at all and will stay out in the open when strangers are around. She happily lays on your lap and sometimes joins you in bed. She occasionally follows you around. She loves sniffing the fresh spring air and will hang out around the back door. Swan is easy to handle and manipulate when needed (nail trim, hair trim, etc). She can be picked up and held, although she doesn't love it for very long. She has not shown any interest in playing with toys. She is not a fan of other cats at all, so needs to be the only cat in her new home. Special Diet/ Health notes: Swan requires prescription canned diabetic food and due to only having 5 teeth left, she prefers pate food over chunks in gravy. Swan is in remission from diabetes -,she no longer needs insulin nor glucose testing- ( yippee) but needs to stay on this food to maintain the remission. Swan has been having some skin issues that we believe are related to allergies , a hypoallergenic food and medication did not help , so now we are going to try a course of steroids to hopefully make her more comfortable and hopefully not cause her diabetes to return. The lower special needs adoption fee reflects our recognition that her long term needs may be more costly than other cats. Swan always has her mouth open a tiny bit to breathe. Our Veterinary partner said that her jaw is shaped in a way that she won't usually close it fully. It could be biological or from past trauma. Her breathing is perfectly normal. Swan is positive for FIV - Feline Immunodeficiency Virus but negative for Feline Leukemia (FeLv). Cats positive for FIV have weaker immune systems, but can live fulfilling and happy lives like any other cats—and can live for many years, often without harmful symptoms. Once neutered they pose little threat of transmission as deep biting is the key mode of transmission, and with neutering fighting is greatly reduced. Please read more here : https://www.alleycat.org/resources/feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv/

Notes:

The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
