Special Diet:
Cat Whisperer Needed
Milk and Cookies were found as strays, living under the front porch of a house in the middle of winter. Since coming indoors, they have discovered the joys of many toys, cat trees, water fountains, unlimited warmth, and pets when they so desire. Cookies loves to take the ball out of the ball track and chase it around. He also enjoys hiding toys in corners, the Cat's Meow interactive toy, and showing you his belly (but it's usually a trap). He's cautious but lovable and I know he has lots of love to give to the right people. Milk enjoys rubbing up against your legs during feeding time. She had a rougher time outside but she's full of love all the same. She enjoys playing with the mouse attachment on the wand toy, bunching up blankets or towels as she plays, and window watching. Often, you'll hear Milk 'chirping' and Cookies responding in a similar manner. The two cuddle up together, groom each other, and eat together.
About Me:
Milk developed skin sores of unknown origin, which are responding well to topical treatment with Surolan drops and a commercial food for skin sensitivies. She should stay on this diet, but may in the future need a Veterinary prescription hypoallergenic food and/or medication i( prednisolone) if she has a reoccurrence or her symptoms become worse. Her ears were infected, but she would not allow ear drops at home , so Milk received a once-a-month treatment at our Veterinary partner clinic . A follow-up check and treatment as needed is recommended 30 days post admin. *Cat Whisperer Needed: Milk and Cookies are cats who were likely raised outdoors and had limited human interaction other than with their caretakers. But, they have shown over time in their foster home that they can establish a connection with humans and be happy indoors. They are now content with inside life, and have grown accustomed to all the perks that come with a home— warmth, food, company, affection and love. However, it will take awhile to develop the same trust as with their foster parents, and they will likely hide until adjusted and trusting their new people. This may take a few weeks, or a month or longer. They need a special person or family who will take the time to show patience and build their confidence and trust, just like their foster parents did. It may take a month or more, but they are worth it! They really are, and their foster parents with Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue can offer you tips and tricks that helped in their foster home.
Notes:
The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
