Special Diet:

Yes see notes below

Colin is a friendly cat, gentle and loves his food. He will communicate to you and will gently touch your leg to get your attention, especially when he is hungry. He enjoys it when you keep him company while he is eating. Colin likes to explore and loves his wand, laser pointer and the cat tree (not too high). While he is not a cuddly cat, he does like to be pet & scratched under his chin. He has been coming up on my bed and sleeping there at night and sitting right beside me on the couch. He is not a fan of loud noises and hides until he feels more secure. When he first arrived, he found safe spots to hide, but quickly came out and explored. So we suggest a quiet home and that he start out in a safe enclosed room until he gets accustomed to his new home before giving him free roam of the house. He currently lives with children and does fine with them, but if the noise and activity level becomes too much he finds this stressful and hides away. Although he uses his litterbox well, it is best to have a large litter box (it will come with him) as he sometimes misses the mark. Colin is really sweet fellow and deserves a loving home of his own where his special needs can continue to be addressed.

About Me:

Colin was brought back into foster care after many years with the same loving family, who could no longer support his special needs. Colin has a history of food allergies- skin sensitivity and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease), with symptoms ranging from constipation to diarrhea. His condition is monitored by our Veterinary partner and managed by Veterinary prescribed food and oral medication. He is currently eating Royal Canin Select PD (canned and dry) and is on Prednisolone 0.5ml twice a day. Colin should be monitored by a Veterinarian and his food & medication regime kept in place unless otherwise changes are recommended by his Veterinarian. Colin was recently diagnosed with a heart murmur of 3/6. Colin was born with mild CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia) which has not affected his activity level nor enjoyment of life. Colin had a dental cleaning and 7 teeth extracted while in foster care and has healed well.

Notes:

The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
