Meet Artemisia (female) and Rosalba (female) ! They are two of the most bonded cats we have ever met. These two best friends conquering the world together are so lovely to watch and it is heart- warming to know they are so content together. They walk into a room curling their tails together, and if apart if one of them makes a noise the other will run to her side. They lay and cuddle together and are very, very adorable to watch as they dote over each other all day long.
Artemisia is friendly on her own terms. She has great potential to being a lap cat one day. She will accept lots of pets and scritches when feeling relaxed, when it's food time and when she's wanting some human affection. When Artemisia receives love from us, Rosalba is never far away, watching enviously as her best friend is getting attention from someone else!
Rosalba has now begun accepting pets from us as well! When relaxed and at food time, she will purr and push on us and enjoy pets. When the petting gets too much for her, she will let you know if you've given her too much attention by batting your hand. She likes to hide in spots where we can't get to her, and if we try and invade her space she's never too happy about it. Both have both become much friendlier with us since their feline housemates were adopted and they've become the only cats in the home. They're also both extremely food motivated, so getting them to come out of hiding is easy. It will take time for them to get fully comfortable with their new humans, but they're worth the time and patience.
About Me:
Cat Whisperer Needed: Artemisia and Rosalba are cats who was born and raised outside with a number of cats in a rural forested area. They had limited human interactions, other than their caretakers, until coming into foster care . But, they have shown over time that they can establish a connection with humans and be happy indoors. They are now doing well in their indoor life, with all the perks that come with it; a family, warmth, food, company, affection and love. However, it will take awhile to achieve and build upon the same level of trust as with their foster parents. They will likely hide until adjusted. They need a special family who will take the time to show patience and build their confidence, just like their foster family did. It may take months , but they are worth it! They really are, and their foster parents with Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue can offer you tips and tricks that helped in their foster home.
Rosalba and Artemisia are works in progress, but the reward of saving cats from the harshness & dangers of outdoor life is so worth the effort and time.
Notes:
The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
