My story:

: Hi! I’m Katalina (Female, DSH Tortie, est DOB July 13, 2018). I came into care at the end of February 2019 and I am still getting used to life indoors. I’ve had very little human contact until now and I have to admit that I am quite shy when I meet new humans. It takes me a little while to come out of my shell, so I need to be with a human who truly understands my needs and patience. I promise you if you are patient with me I will let you pet me and you will hear my soft purr. I still get easily spooked when I hear loud noises, but I am getting braver and braver each day. However, since I’ve been in my foster home, I’ve discovered that I love to play with the resident cat of my age, and love the morning routine that my foster mama plays with us with the laser and throws my dry food to fetch/play and eat. I also discovered toys and I love my toy mice, I usually bring it to my foster mama. If you do decide to come and visit me, please don't be offended if I hide for a little while or only watch you from a distance. I do not like to be rushed.

Foster special notes:

Katalina is a very shy, but super gentle cat with trust and routine. She is always present but at a safe distance. She comes when called, knows her name and wants to join in the action where the other resident cats are. She will need a patient and loving family who will give her time to adjust. She will initially need a room where she can feel safe and get used to her new surrounding and where her new family will be able to spend time with her without her being able to run away and hide. A home with another outgoing cat would be best for her as she loves the company of other felines, cause she is a follower. She is also "submissive" and avoids any confrontations from other cats. She loves to explore the house and will sometimes be found sleeping in the TV room on the coach. She is definitely a quiet cat and loves her privacy in the daytime. She retreats in finished basement on the coach where she can sleep comfortably in her house tree (her safe place) if she feels scared or people upstairs with voices she does not know. When Katalina is not comfortable, she starts to pace to give herself space...( too close). I the foster mother respects her, I give her that space and she usually comes back quickly to just hang around. I can give her food on my fingers and she is very gentle.

Cat Whispering Family Needed:

I am a cat who was born and raised outside. I am loving inside life, with all the perks that come with a family - warmth, food, company, affection and love. However, it takes me a while to trust, and I may hide until I am adjusted. I need a special family, who will take the time to show me the patience, and build my confidence, just like my foster family. It may take me a few weeks buy sometimes, it may be a month or more. I am worth it. I really am, and the great people with the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue can offer you tips and tricks that helped in my foster home.
