Introducing Zephyra, the sweetest baby angel you’ll ever meet! Zephyra hid in a closet for a short time on her first day with her foster parent, but was soon seeking out attention and affection. She settled in extremely well and quickly, curling up in her foster parent’s lap by day two. Zephyra loves to play and she is not shy to let her foster parent know when it’s time to play! She appreciates having a range of toys to choose from, and engages well in solo play or interactive play with her foster parent. In addition to playing, she loves looking out of windows (preferably from a high spot) and snoozing in a cozy bed. During the night, she can be found sleeping near her foster parent (either next to them in bed or perched on the dresser), or having solo playtime in the living room. When her foster parent wakes up, she follows them around, giving her most adorable meows to ask for breakfast and, most importantly, playtime. Zephyra has not met children or other animals, but she is very friendly, curious, and playful; she will likely adapt well in any environment.
About Me:
Zephyra was found on the side of the road with a suspected leg injury due to the way she walked. After being brought into OSCatR care, she was xrayed and examined at our Veterinary partner, xrays showed a deformed right leg with missing femoral head and hip dysplasia. There was extensive muscle atrophy in the right leg. Further consultation with our Veterinary partner surgeon, indicated that she was likely born with her deformed leg. She has full mobility in both hips with no pain evident, but her right leg does not bend. An assessment of her daily habits and mobility determined that surgery was not recommended. There is the possibility she will develop degenerative joint disease - arthritis as time goes on, due to the fact that she overcompensates with her other leg. At that time, supplements such as Cosequin may be recommended by her adopter's Veterinarian. For now, she runs, jumps, climbs and plays like any other kitten, she just has a sassy little strut while she does it.
Notes:
The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
