Cat Whisperer Needed
Galinda is a very sweet little girl, but very skittish at first. She loves to play with balls and other small cat toys, especially when no one's around to get in her way. It's taken her a while, but she's starting to learn that being pet is a good thing, and has started to let her purrs out, on occasion. She is becoming braver every day, and is coming out of hiding quicker every day. She loves head rubs as well as near the base of her tail. She would do best to start in her own safe room with limited hiding spaces to acclimatize and get used to her new family, before she's let out into the rest of the home. Escape routes should be firmly secured to start, especially windows and floor vents. Galinda would do best either adopted with her fellow foster Elphaba, who is perhaps a littermate & from the same colony and has lived with her in their foster room and with whom she gets along well, or for her to be adopted into a home with a friendly, confident well socialized cat who can help show her the ropes. The resident cat in her foster home seems to be helping her come out of hiding more.
About Me:
Galinda is a cat who was raised in an outdoor colony and had limited human interaction other than her caretakers. But, she has shown over time in her foster home that she can establish a connection with humans and be happy indoors. She is now content with inside life, and has grown accustomed to all the perks that come with a home— warmth, food, company, affection and love. However, it will take awhile to develop the same trust as with her foster parent, and she will likely hide until she is adjusted and trust her new people. This may take a few weeks, or a month or longer. She needs a special person or family who will take the time to show patience and build her confidence and trust, just like her foster parent did. It may take a month or more, but she is worth it! She really is, and her foster parent with Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue can offer you tips and tricks that helped in her foster home.
Notes:
The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
