Cat Whisperer Needed

Ensalada, aka Sally, came into care from a large rural colony just south of Ottawa. She was originally part of our TNR program, however, she decided that the outdoor life wasn't really her style and has now been living life to the fullest in her foster home. When she first came into foster, Ensalada was very fearful. She spent most of her time hiding, but with some time, she slowly realized that pets aren't so bad, in fact, they are her favourite. It will take Sally some time to adapt to a new environment, so her adopters need to be " Cat Whisperers"; patient and ready to work with her and give her time. She will need a calm, quiet space for her to lounge and retreat to. Having small accessible hiding spaces set up in the area will help boost her confidence, so she can watch life around her, but also be enticed with treats and gentle pets while in her safe space. Ensalada will need another friendly cat in the home. Currently, she spends her time playing with her foster feline siblings and snuggling up on the couch with her foster mom for lots and lots of pets! Ensalada will need someone who has the patience to work with her however she is sooooo sweet and soooo worth the effort!

About Me:

Ensalada is on a Veterinary prescribed hypoallergenic diet to address both digestive and skin sensitivities; a suspected protein allergy caused her to engage in hair-pulling behaviour and gave her diarrhea. Since switching to Royal Canin Select protein canned and Royal Canin Hypoallergenic Hydroloyzed Protein dry food exclusively she has shown significant improvement. She should not have any other types of foods or treats. She is will likely need to be on prescription food for the rest of her life, the food is available only through a Veterinary clinic, and thus her adoption fee reflects this as
Ensalada was missing some, and had some broken teeth extracted while in foster care, but has healed well now.

Notes:

The adoption fee includes a health check, first vaccination in a series and any that become due while in care, first anti-parasite treatments needed in care, spay or neuter and microchip at our Veterinary partner. There is a 10% discount when you adopt 2 cats/kittens. The adopter will be responsible for any vaccine or boosters, anti-parasite treatments that are needed after adoption. Kittens usually need 3 vaccines, one month apart starting at age 7 weeks. Juveniles and Adult cats usually require 2 vaccines one month apart in the first year, then annual vaccines. Deworming is recommended at the time of each vaccine appointment. If you are intending to adopt, please be aware that your Veterinary clinic may be experiencing backlogs in scheduling appointments, so do not delay calling your clinic to book your new cat's needed booster appointment(s). Please note that cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted. We will share any medical information gathered during our health checks and observations revealed during their time in care. But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period of 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.
