MY STORY:

I was a well-known resident of a large west-end colony and eluded the trappers working with OSCatR for a long time. I was finally caught and brought in as part of OSCatR's Trap Neuter Vaccinate Release program in the autumn of 2018. Everyone was worried about me because something about my mouth just didn't look right. I ended up having most of my teeth removed, so returning to outdoor life was not an option. I was really scared but stayed very calm right from the start of coming inside, and let the veterinary staff take care of me without a peep. I like it inside, I have good food, a warm bed and other cats to watch, I am still not so sure about people, but I do like when they give me treats.

FOSTER NOTES:

Boca remained in her carrier for several weeks, only coming out to eat the canned food that was left nearby and to use the litter box. She allowed her foster parent to pet her several times a day, cringing but never once hissing nor growling. Boca welcomed a new young cat, Sand, from her colony straight away when he joined her foster home. He went right into her carrier as soon as he arrived and they spent many hours cuddling. He soon ventured out and has now been adopted. She has since welcomed others; Salt (from her colony), Dolphin and Prince Harry ( handsome fellows from different colonies), contently spending hours snuggled with them. Her foster mom has nicknamed her Momma. Boca is becoming braver around her foster parent, inch by inch. She watches from her new favourite spots in the cat tree, on the sofa or on the cat bed, no longer running away when I enter whichever room she is in. I can slowly approach her to offer her food or treats, but if I move too fast off she goes. She has never swatted, growled nor hissed at me. She is a work in progress, but is well worth it. Boca is looking for an adopter who will be very patient and continue to work on gaining her trust slowly but surely.

CAT WHISPERER WANTED:

I am a cat who was born and raised outside. I am loving inside life, with all the perks that come with a family - warmth, food, company, affection and love. However, it takes me a while to trust, and I may hide until I am adjusted. I need a special family, who will take the time to show me the patience, and build my confidence, just like my foster family. It may take me a few weeks buy sometimes, it may be a month or more. I am worth it. I really am, and the great people with the Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue can offer you tips and tricks that helped in my foster home.
